Student attendance app

QR attendance system for schools in Pakistan

Every student carries a printed ID card with a QR code. The class teacher scans the cards on a phone as students walk in, and a class of 34 is marked in about a minute. Guardians of anyone not in school hear the same morning.

  • No biometric machine, no register book: any Android phone or iPhone
  • Late marked by your cut-off time, approved leave filled in
  • Absent alerts to guardians in the app and by e-mail

How it works

The morning register in four steps

From printed card to a message at home, the whole attendance system runs on the class teacher’s phone.

  1. 1

    Print the ID cards

Every student gets a QR ID card and a PIN. Print one card, or a whole class on A4 sheets, from the admin panel.

  2. 2

    Scan as they walk in

The first card tells the app the class. Roll, roster and the count still to come appear by themselves; a card from another class is refused.

  3. 3

    Late is marked for you

The school sets the cut-off time. A late student still counts as present, and approved leave is already in the register.

  4. 4

    Close the register

Everyone not scanned is marked absent and their guardian is told at once, in the School360 app and by e-mail.

Why schools change to QR attendance

Faster than a paper register, and guardians see it

  • About a minute a class

No calling names, no ticking boxes, no class to choose. Teachers get the first period back.

  • The right child, every time

Each card belongs to one student of your school, so marks cannot be made up for a friend.

  • Absent alerts the same morning

A guardian knows before the first break if their child did not reach school.

  • Live for the office

The principal sees every register as it is taken, can remind the classes not done, and downloads a CSV.

  • Holidays never count

Close the school for Eid, a public holiday or rain and the day is left out of every attendance percentage.

  • Each student’s month

Present, late, leave and absent days for every student, and an at-risk flag under 80% attendance.

For school owners

An online attendance system that fits a Pakistani school

Most private schools in Pakistan still take attendance in a register book, then copy it into a spreadsheet at the end of the month. School360 replaces both with a QR code attendance system that the class teacher runs from a phone in the doorway of the classroom.

Because the QR code is printed on the card, scanning works even where the mobile signal is weak. There is no biometric machine to buy, no fingerprint reader to repair and nothing to install in the classroom. If a student forgets the card, the class teacher can correct the mark in the app and the office can set any mark from the school admin panel.

Every mark flows straight into the guardian’s app, the student’s attendance percentage and the office’s daily attendance report. Staff can be scanned the same way with their own cards: see teacher attendance and salaries.

Questions

QR attendance questions

Something else? Ask us. We reply within one working day.

Do we need a scanner or biometric machine?

No. Any Android phone or iPhone with a camera scans the student ID cards. There is nothing to buy or install in the classroom.

How are guardians told when a child is absent?

When the class teacher closes the register, every guardian of a student not scanned gets a message in the School360 app and by e-mail, the same morning.

What if a student forgets the ID card?

The class teacher can correct the day’s mark in the app, and the office can set any mark from the admin panel. Cards can be reprinted at any time.

Does it work with a weak internet signal?

Yes. The QR code is printed on the card, so the camera reads it without the internet; the phone only needs a signal to save the scan.

Can a card from another class be scanned by mistake?

No. The first card sets the class, and a card from any other class is refused with a message, so every register stays correct.

Do holidays and closed days lower the attendance percentage?

No. A day the school is closed on the school calendar is not a school day: nobody is marked absent and it is left out of every percentage.
